This guide explains toy sale dates 2026 in plain English, with the practical checks to make before changing your household budget.
Quick answer: toy sale dates 2026 vary by retailer and sometimes by product. Smyths’ official updates advertise selected offers from 20 October to 2 November. Other supermarket and toy-shop offers need checking against the live item page or local store. Black Friday is 27 November 2026. Do not rely on an estimated retailer date when planning a trip or setting your Christmas budget.

“Should I buy now or wait for the sales?” is a useful question when you are planning Christmas shopping. So I’ve put every toy sale in one place, labelled clearly as confirmed or expected, and I’ll keep updating it until Christmas.

Toy sale dates 2026: what is confirmed?
| Retailer/event | Date or status | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Smyths | 20 October–2 November, according to official retailer updates | Selected products; confirm the exact item price, stock and exclusions |
| Sainsbury’s | An October toy sale has been reported; confirm dates and availability with your store | Do not treat a reported end date as a guaranteed local offer |
| Tesco | Offer dates vary by item | Clubcard eligibility, seller, delivery and the dates beside the product |
| Morrisons | Check current More Card toy offers | Participating products, card requirement and branch availability |
| Argos | Check the live toy-offer page | Eligible products and the terms of each multibuy |
| Aldi, Lidl, B&M and Asda | No future event date independently confirmed here | Use retailer announcements rather than dates extrapolated from a previous year |
| Black Friday / Cyber Monday | 27 November / 30 November 2026 | The calendar dates do not guarantee a particular retailer’s deals |
For a date-sensitive purchase, open the retailer’s current page or ask the branch before travelling. An ongoing offer on one toy does not establish the start or end date of a nationwide event.
Is “half price” really half price?
“Up to half price” means some toys are 50% off, not all of them. Compare the exact toy, model number and total delivered price across shops. A sale headline alone does not show whether that particular toy is good value.
Before you buy, I’d do these three quick checks:
- Check the same toy in two other shops. Smyths, Argos and Amazon often price-match each other without saying so.
- Check the price history. A previous price does not establish that today’s offer is the lowest available price. Free price-history tools like CamelCamelCamel (for Amazon) show you the past few months.
- Ask whether you’d buy it at that price anyway. A bargain on something your child doesn’t want isn’t a bargain.
How to stack savings on top of the sales
- Loyalty cards: Some Tesco and Morrisons offers require a Clubcard or More Card. Check the label for the particular item rather than assuming every price follows the same rule. They’re both free. More in my supermarket loyalty apps guide.
- Points you’ve saved all year: Clubcard vouchers and Nectar points work on sale toys. Check the redemption terms and compare the price before spending them.
- Discounted gift cards: buying supermarket gift cards through a cashback app can knock a few percent more off. See how supermarket cashback gift cards work.
- Cashback sites for online orders: Check whether your chosen retailer currently appears on cashback sites. Click through before you add to your basket.
Buy now or wait for Black Friday?
My rule: if it’s this year’s “must-have” toy, buy it now at a good price. Stock and prices can change. Set a maximum price and compare today’s available offers; there is no guarantee that waiting for Black Friday will produce a lower price. You can watch Amazon’s toy deals (ad) and Lego deals (ad) as a price check.
Toy sale FAQs
When is the Smyths half-price sale 2026?
It’s live now, from 20 October to 2 November 2026, in store and online, on selected toys.
When is the Sainsbury’s toy sale 2026?
October offers have been reported, but I have not independently confirmed an end date with Sainsbury’s. Check your branch before making a special trip; availability can differ.
Do I need a Clubcard for the Tesco toy sale?
Yes. The prices are Clubcard prices, so scan your free Clubcard (or the app) at the till, or you’ll pay full price.
Is there an Asda toy sale before Christmas?
Check Asda’s own live toy offers and announcements. A previous event’s dates do not confirm whether another sale will run before Christmas.
Can I reserve sale toys?
Reservation and collection rules depend on the retailer and product. Use the current checkout options or ask the store before relying on an item being held for you.
toy sale dates 2026: summary
Make a list first, with a budget per child, then use the sales to tick it off, not to add to it. Bookmark this page. I’ll update it as each sale starts and ends, all the way to Christmas.
What I’d do first before a toy sale
1. Write the exact toy on your list
A character name is not enough for a fair comparison. Note the product code, size, included accessories and age recommendation. Shops can sell different versions in similar packaging. Compare the same item and decide which details matter to your child before being distracted by a bigger discount on a different set.
2. Set a total budget before comparing
Include delivery, travel, batteries and any accessories needed to use the toy. If you are buying for several children, write down the amount available for each gift rather than letting a sale determine the size of the Christmas budget. A discounted toy bought in addition to the original list is still extra spending. Keep food, heating and regular bills outside the gift pot.
3. Record the price and return terms
Keep the order confirmation and note the retailer’s deadline for returns. Check whether the item must remain unopened, who pays return postage and whether a marketplace seller has different terms. A later price drop does not automatically give you a right to the difference. Ask the retailer about any price promise before ordering a second item or arranging a return.
4. Check stock before making a special trip
A national promotion does not mean a particular branch stocks the toy. Check the product page and local availability, then compare delivery or collection costs. Do not assume a toy can be reserved or held at the till. If the item is unavailable at your planned price, keeping the money is a valid outcome; you do not need to replace it with an unplanned purchase.
