Supermarket Loyalty Apps UK: How to Save Every Time You Shop

Compare Tesco Clubcard, Nectar, Lidl Plus, Asda Rewards, Morrisons More and myWaitrose, including personalised offers and practical ways to save.

Last updated: October 2026 · Loyalty schemes, coupons and app features change often, so check the retailer’s current terms before relying on an offer.

Supermarket loyalty apps in the UK now do much more than collect points. Used well, a supermarket loyalty app can cut the price of things you were going to buy anyway, from member prices at the shelf to personal coupons you unlock before you shop.

Used badly, though, they can nudge you into buying extra stuff just to “earn” a reward. So in this guide I’ll walk you through how the main schemes work right now, what changed at Lidl this year, and a simple routine to make sure the apps save you money instead of costing you more.

How I use them

I shop at Lidl, Morrisons and Tesco, and I never shop at Tesco or Morrisons without the loyalty card. If not, you’ll be paying more than you need to. In my Lidl Plus app I usually get 7 or 8 personalised coupons, often 10% or 15% off, and sometimes £5 off when I spend £50. I also love Lidl’s Too Good To Waste box. Supermarket loyalty apps UK: how they work

Most UK supermarket loyalty apps give you some mix of these four things:

  1. Member prices: lower shelf prices you only get when you scan your card or app.
  2. Personalised offers: discounts picked for you based on what you buy. Many have to be unlocked first.
  3. Points or a cashpot: a little back on what you spend, which turns into vouchers or rewards.
  4. Extras: things like partner offers, free hot drinks or app-only deals.

Are the member prices real savings? Mostly, yes. When the Competition and Markets Authority checked around 50,000 loyalty-price products, it found that 92% were genuine savings against the usual price, with members saving 17% to 25% on average. It also said loyalty prices aren’t always the cheapest option, so it’s still worth comparing shops.

The main schemes, one by one

Tesco Clubcard and Your Clubcard Prices

Clubcard gives you Clubcard Prices on lots of products, plus points on your shopping. You earn 1 point for every £1 you spend at Tesco, and each point is worth 1p in vouchers.

Some shoppers also get Your Clubcard Prices. These are personalised discounts based on your past shopping, offered to eligible customers who use the Tesco app. New ones arrive every Wednesday, last 7 days, and must be unlocked each week in the app or online. They work in larger Tesco stores and on tesco.com.

One word of warning: you may see “hacks” online claiming that if you stop using your Clubcard for a while, Tesco will send bigger discounts. Tesco’s own rules don’t say that, so I wouldn’t rely on it.

Sainsbury’s Nectar and Your Nectar Prices

Nectar Prices are member prices on selected products at Sainsbury’s. Note that Nectar Prices aren’t available in Sainsbury’s Local stores.

If you use the Nectar app or nectar.com, you can also get Your Nectar Prices: up to 10 personalised discounts a week. They refresh every Friday, last 7 days, and you need to unlock each one before you shop.

Lidl Plus: coupons and points

Lidl Plus changed a lot in 2026, so older guides may be out of date. The old Coupon Plus scheme, where you hit monthly spending targets, was withdrawn on 5 May 2026. It was replaced by Lidl Plus Points.

Here’s how the app works now:

  • Weekly coupons: you still get personalised coupons in the app. Activate them before you scan at the till. This is where my 10% and 15% off coupons come from.
  • Points: you earn 1 point for every £1 you spend in store when you scan the app. Points usually show up the next day.
  • Rewards: spend your points in the app’s Rewards Marketplace on coupons for free products or money off.
  • Extra points: Lidl sometimes runs campaigns with extra points on selected items.
  • Time limits: points last two years, and a reward coupon is valid for 30 days once you choose it.

Morrisons More

Morrisons More gives you More Card Prices on selected products, plus regular personalised offers and money-off coupons on things you buy most. You earn 5 More Points on each product when you scan your card. Once you reach 5,000 points, you can turn them into a £5 More Fiver, or keep saving.

Asda Rewards

Asda Rewards works in pounds, not points. Money builds up in a Cashpot in the app, mainly by completing missions such as buying in certain categories or reaching a spending target. You then turn your Cashpot into vouchers to spend at Asda in store or online. Missions vary from person to person, so check what’s in your app.

myWaitrose and Co-op Membership

myWaitrose is free and is more about perks and personal vouchers than shelf-wide member prices. Check the app for your current offers, as they can change week to week.

Co-op Membership costs £1 to join, refunded on your first in-store shop once you’ve picked a personalised offer. Members get lower prices on everyday items and can choose personalised offers each week.

What about Aldi?

At the time of writing, Aldi doesn’t run a loyalty prices scheme like the ones above, so everyone pays the same shelf price. That makes it easy to compare.

8 tips to get the most from supermarket loyalty apps

  1. Only join the schemes you’ll use. Pick the supermarkets you already shop at. Five apps you never open won’t save you anything.
  2. Never shop without the card or app. Without it, you pay the higher price for exactly the same item.
  3. Open the app before you write your list. If a staple you need is on a personal offer, plan around it.
  4. Unlock your offers every week. Tesco’s refresh on Wednesday and Sainsbury’s on Friday. Lidl coupons need activating too. It takes two minutes.
  5. Check the unit price. A big percentage off a pricey product can still cost more than a cheaper version.
  6. Don’t chase missions or targets. If you’d only buy something to earn a reward, skip it.
  7. Spend your points and vouchers. Points and rewards can expire, so set a reminder to use them.
  8. Check your receipt. Make sure the member prices and coupons came off. If not, ask at customer service.

Can loyalty savings stack with cashback?

Sometimes, yes. A loyalty price lowers what you pay at the till, and a separate cashback offer may give you a little back on top. Each one has its own rules, so check both.

Only stack savings on money you’d spend anyway. And if your food shop keeps creeping up, the 50/30/20 rule can help you set a sensible food budget.

Supermarket loyalty apps UK: FAQs

Are supermarket loyalty prices real savings?

Mostly, yes. The CMA found 92% of the loyalty prices it checked were genuine savings, with average savings of 17% to 25%. Another shop can still be cheaper, so compare now and then.

Does Lidl Plus still have coupons?

Yes. Coupon Plus (the monthly spend tracker) ended on 5 May 2026 and was replaced by points, but you still get weekly coupons in the app to activate before you shop.

How many points do you get with Lidl Plus?

1 point for every £1 you spend in store when you scan the app. You swap points for rewards in the app’s Rewards Marketplace.

Do I need the app, or is the plastic card enough?

For basic member prices, scanning a card often works. For personalised offers, such as Your Clubcard Prices and Your Nectar Prices, you usually need the app or an online account to unlock them.

Should I join every supermarket loyalty scheme?

Only the ones for shops you really use. More apps means more offers tempting you to spend.

Supermarket loyalty apps: summary

  • Scan your card or app every time, or you’ll pay more than you need to.
  • Unlock personalised offers each week before you shop.
  • Lidl Plus now has both weekly coupons and points (1 point per £1).
  • Compare the final basket and unit prices, not the badge.
  • Don’t buy extra just to earn a reward.

Which loyalty app do you use most? Tell me in the comments, I’d love to hear which offers you get.
