Last checked: 10 October 2026. Restaurant birthday freebies in the UK can save you a good chunk on a family birthday meal, but almost none of them mean a £0 bill. Most need another main, a minimum spend or a loyalty app. I’ve checked each offer below on the restaurant’s own website or terms, so you know exactly what you need to buy before you book.
This is part of my UK birthday freebies guide. You might also like coffee shop birthday freebies (free cake, no purchase needed), kids’ birthday freebies and entertainment birthday freebies.

Before you book: 4 checks
- Join at least 2 weeks before your birthday. Frankie & Benny’s sends its code 14 days before, and TGI Fridays needs you to join more than 7 days before.
- Use your real date of birth. TGI Fridays won’t move it to get the offer at a different time of year, and may ask for proof.
- Check what you need to order. Most offers need another main or a minimum spend.
- Tell your server before you order. Frankie & Benny’s and Las Iguanas ask for this, and it saves an awkward moment at the till.
Free birthday mains
1. Does Zizzi give you a free birthday meal?
Yes. Zizzi gives Zillionaires’ Club members a free main course for their birthday meal, as long as you’ve given them the right date. Zizzi’s FAQ says the Birthday Perk usually lands in your app wallet about two weeks before your birthday and lasts 28 days. Perks generally can’t be combined with set menus, Tesco Clubcard codes, Tastecard, Blue Light Card or student discounts.
2. Las Iguanas birthday main
Las Iguanas rewards members get a free main for their birthday when at least two people at the table order mains from the à la carte menu. Tell your server you’re using it. The email arrives before your birthday (the page says 14 days and the terms say 7) and is valid for 30 days. It’s one per member per year, and you can’t combine it with the app’s separate birthday offer.
3. Frankie & Benny’s birthday main
Frankie & Benny’s takes the cheapest main off the bill when two or more Brunch or Core mains are ordered. The code comes 14 days before your birthday and you can use it once within 30 days. It also gives a free starter on your half birthday. Signature Grills, set menus, upgrades, delivery and takeaway are excluded, and so are airport branches, London Covent Garden and London Paddington. The FAQ and the terms disagree on whether one or two mains are needed, so check with the restaurant when you book.
Free birthday sides, desserts and drinks
4. What does Wagamama give you on your birthday?
A gyoza side. The Wagamama Soul Club terms (updated November 2025) say you may be eligible for a birthday gyoza reward if you’ve earned at least one stamp in the past six months. You earn a stamp by spending £12 in a restaurant, on click and collect, or through Uber Eats or Deliveroo. The reward lasts 31 days. If you order more than one gyoza side, the most expensive one is discounted.
5. Does TGI Fridays give a free birthday dessert?
Yes, if you order a main. The TGI Fridays terms say Rewards app users get a free dessert on their birthday when ordering a main meal. You need to sign up more than 7 days before your birthday, and the reward appears 7 days before. It isn’t valid in Northern Ireland and can’t be combined with Stripes or other app offers.
6. What is the PizzaExpress birthday reward?
It depends on your PizzaExpress Club tier, and every tier needs a £15 minimum spend:
- Bronze: one free dessert from the adult dessert menu (not Dolcetti or sharing desserts).
- Silver: one free Classic or Leggera pizza, or an Al Forno or salad instead.
- Gold: one free Classic, Leggera or Romana pizza, a bottle of Prosecco or wine, four bottles of Peroni or four soft drinks. The alcohol options aren’t available in Scotland, Northern Ireland or Jersey.
It’s valid for 6 weeks from the 1st of your birthday month, for dine-in or PizzaExpress’s own Collection and Delivers, but not delivery apps. That long window makes it one of the easiest to fit around a busy month.
Birthday money off
7. Bella Italia birthday offer: £15 off £30
Bella Italia sends the birthday person a code for £15 off a restaurant bill of £30 or more. It expires 21 days after the email. It’s dine-in only, single use, and can’t be combined with set, lunch or specials menus, other vouchers or Tesco Clubcard tokens. Center Parcs restaurants are excluded. For a family of four, this is often the best value on the list.
8. Subway birthday present
Subway Rewards says members get “a birthday present from us every year”. The page doesn’t say what it is or whether you need to buy anything, so check the app in your birthday month. It’s worth having if you already use Subway.
Birthday offers I couldn’t confirm
Other lists include birthday offers from Prezzo, Bill’s, Miller & Carter, Burger King, itsu, Cosy Club and Toby Carvery. When I checked on 10 October 2026, I couldn’t find these on the restaurants’ own terms pages, so I’ve left them out. If you’re a member of any of them, look in your inbox or app in the fortnight before your birthday.
Which restaurant birthday deal is best value?
It depends on who’s eating with you:
- Just you or a couple: Zizzi (a free main) or Las Iguanas (a free main when two of you eat).
- Family meal: Bella Italia (£15 off £30) or Frankie & Benny’s (the cheapest main free). Kids often eat free at half term too, so check my kids eat free guide before you book.
- A small treat on a normal day: Wagamama gyoza or PizzaExpress Bronze dessert, if you were going anyway.
One rule I follow: pick the restaurant first, then use the reward. A free dessert isn’t a saving if it pulls you into a meal that costs more than the one you’d have had anyway. If birthdays always blow your budget, a sinking fund for birthdays and celebrations spreads the cost across the year.

Restaurant birthday freebies UK: FAQs
Where can I eat for free on my birthday in the UK?
Zizzi gives Zillionaires’ Club members a free birthday main. Las Iguanas and Frankie & Benny’s give a free main when two or more mains are ordered. Very few restaurants give a meal with no other spending at all.
How early should I sign up for restaurant birthday clubs?
At least two weeks before. Frankie & Benny’s and Zizzi send rewards about 14 days ahead, and TGI Fridays needs you to join more than 7 days before.
Can I use a birthday reward with Tesco Clubcard vouchers?
Usually not. Bella Italia and Zizzi both exclude Clubcard codes alongside their birthday offers. Check the terms on your reward before you plan to stack them.
Can I use a birthday reward for takeaway?
Mostly no. Frankie & Benny’s and Bella Italia are dine-in only. PizzaExpress allows its own Collection and Delivers service, but not delivery apps.
