Are you paying £95 a year for Amazon Prime and only using it when you need something delivered quickly? You could be missing some of the most useful parts of the membership. Prime is not just parcels: there is a changing library of films and TV series, eligible grocery delivery, music, reading, gaming, photo storage and partner offers. If you are reviewing an expensive television package, Prime Video could be particularly interesting.
That doesn’t mean everybody should keep Prime. Some benefits have restrictions, some need activating and others simply won’t suit your household. This guide walks through the advantages and limitations so you can make a fair decision.

How much is Amazon Prime in the UK?
For this 11 October 2026 review, Amazon lists standard Prime at £8.99 monthly or £95 annually. Twelve monthly payments add up to £107.88, making the annual option £12.88 cheaper if you remain subscribed for all twelve months. Amazon also lists a Prime Video-only option at £7.99 monthly. Always check the price offered to your account.

Paying annually isn’t always better: if you only want three months, £26.97 of monthly membership is much less than £95. Eligible students and young adults may have separate offers; check the current eligibility terms.
1. Prime Video: could it replace an expensive TV package?
This is one of the strongest reasons to explore Prime before cancelling. Prime Video includes a changing selection of films, TV dramas, documentaries, family programmes and selected live sport. Amazon Originals and Prime-associated series have included Reacher, Fallout, The Boys, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Clarkson’s Farm, The Grand Tour, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Good Omens. Individual titles and seasons can move in and out of the included catalogue, so check for the Included with Prime label.
Films, family nights and children’s entertainment
Before paying to rent a film, look through the included films. You may find a family film-night option without an additional charge. Prime Video supports compatible televisions, phones, tablets, streaming devices and browsers. Families can use profiles and available parental controls to help manage viewing.
Can Prime Video replace Sky?
For households that mainly enjoy films and television series, possibly. Suppose a paid TV package costs £45 per month: that’s £540 annually, compared with £95 for full annual Prime, an illustrative £445 difference. That is not a like-for-like service comparison or a guaranteed saving. Sky and other television providers may offer channels, sports and features that Prime does not. Check your actual package, broadband, equipment and early-exit fees before changing.

What isn’t included?
Prime Video includes limited adverts unless you pay for an eligible ad-free option. Some films and series are rentals, purchases or separate channel subscriptions. 2. Morrisons grocery delivery on Amazon
This deserves a closer look if you already order food online. Morrisons on Amazon offers groceries in eligible UK postcodes, with availability depending on your location. Amazon’s guidance for the relevant service describes a £15 minimum order and delivery included above £60; different partners, windows and delivery options can have different fees and thresholds. Check your postcode and the final basket total.
Fresh food, frozen products and household essentials may be available, depending on the local selection. Prime-related delivery windows can be useful, including certain one-hour windows on Morrisons and Iceland orders, but not every service or postcode has the same terms.

For example, a Prime member ordering £20 of groceries would pay £27 with a two-hour delivery window or £29 with a one-hour window, assuming the published schedule applies and no other fees arise. For £30, £45 and £60 baskets, the published two-hour delivery fees are £2.50 lower for Prime than non-Prime customers. That is a delivery-fee difference, not a net saving after the Prime subscription cost.

Amazon grocery partners versus ordering directly: Morrisons, Iceland, Co-op and Gopuff
Amazon grocery delivery is not one single service. Different supermarkets may have separate baskets, delivery rules, product prices and postcode coverage. Compare the same groceries at both checkouts, including small-order charges and delivery fees, rather than assuming Prime makes the order cheapest.

Why small Gopuff baskets deserve extra attention
Research screenshots reported a £4.99 small-order fee below £12.50 and no small-order fee from £15. Those charges were not verified as applying to Amazon orders. As an illustration only, if a £10 basket attracts £4.99 small-order and £1.99 delivery fees, the total is £16.98. A £15 basket without the small-order fee but with the same delivery charge would total £16.99. Check the live total before ordering; buying extras you do not need is not saving money.
Which supermarket route should you choose?
For a £15–£20 top-up, check Co-op direct or Morrisons direct before paying Amazon Fresh’s small-basket fee. For a planned larger shop, compare Iceland direct and standard Morrisons delivery with Amazon. For urgent orders, compare genuine delivery estimates from rapid services rather than confusing a one-hour arrival window with delivery in an hour.

Amazon advertises a Prime-linked Deliveroo Plus Silver offer for eligible members, involving a year of Silver membership at no additional membership charge under the offer terms. Delivery-fee benefits apply to qualifying restaurant orders over £15 and store orders over £25, with exclusions, service charges and distance rules still possible. Check activation and whether your account qualifies.
If you already order through Deliveroo, this may add genuine value. But don’t start ordering extra takeaways just to use a perk: saving a delivery fee on an unnecessary order isn’t saving money.
4. ODEON cinema offers
Verified offer: UK Prime members can get two classic or classic saver 2D tickets for £10, or two eligible ODEON Luxe recliner tickets for £15, once per month for Monday–Thursday screenings. Extra fees apply for upgrades; selected cinemas and events are excluded. 5. Amazon Music Prime

Amazon Music Prime offers music and podcast listening as part of membership, but it is not Amazon Music Unlimited. Unlimited is a separately paid service with different listening controls and features. If you’re paying for Spotify or another music service, test the included version before cancelling something you use regularly. 6. Prime Reading

Prime Reading gives access to a rotating selection of eligible digital books and other reading content. You can explore these using compatible Kindle devices or apps. Prime has offered gaming benefits through Amazon Luna and related programmes. Explore the games actually included with your membership and check supported devices, internet requirements and any extra purchases. A large games catalogue has little value if nobody in your home plays.
9. Amazon Photos
Check Amazon Photos storage and cancellation implications. Prime includes unlimited eligible full-resolution photo storage and 5GB for videos under the published terms.

10. Fast delivery, same-day options and Amazon Day

Prime includes delivery benefits on eligible products. Depending on item and postcode, options may include one-day, same-day or scheduled Amazon Day deliveries. Amazon’s published same-day terms have described a £20 threshold and a £1.99 charge below it for qualifying orders, but availability and charges can change. Always check checkout.

12. Amazon Family and sharing Prime

Amazon Family lets eligible adults in the same primary residential address share certain membership benefits, with child profiles and other household features subject to the terms. Current UK rules should not be interpreted as permission to share full membership benefits with a sibling or parent permanently living elsewhere. Amazon’s former Prime Invitee arrangements ended, so older sharing instructions may be outdated.
Prime Video supports multiple viewing profiles and simultaneous streams, but technical streaming limits do not establish unrestricted sharing rights between separate households. Check Amazon’s terms. Sharing payment methods may also have privacy implications.
13. Selected live sport
Prime Video offers selected sporting events, but competition rights change. If your household follows a particular team, check the actual fixtures and channels before giving up Sky Sports or TNT Sports. Prime isn’t a universal replacement for every sports subscription.
14. No-Rush Delivery rewards
Amazon has sometimes offered eligible customers a reward for selecting slower delivery. Such rewards aren’t guaranteed on every order or account. Only count a credit when it is actually offered at checkout, and check its expiry and redemption restrictions.
15. Other Amazon programmes: don’t confuse them with Prime benefits
Amazon Shopper Panel is a separate invitation-based rewards programme, not an automatic Prime entitlement. Is Prime worth £95? Do the real-value test
Rather than adding up Amazon’s advertised value for every perk, count only benefits you would genuinely pay for. Imagine a household that would otherwise spend £60 on equivalent entertainment, £25 on eligible delivery charges, £15 on books and £20 on grocery-delivery fees. That’s £120 of hypothetical personal value against £95 membership. Another household might value everything at only £30. Neither example predicts your own savings.
