Last updated: 27 October 2026. Christmas 2026 booking information; availability depends on your postcode and account.
Tesco Christmas delivery slots open in November, with different dates depending on your Delivery Saver plan. If you want the food shop organised before December gets busy, this is the point to check your account and decide which day actually works for you.
I would start with the booking date and the total cost. Early access can be helpful, but buying a pass only makes sense if the plan suits your shopping.
I’m Dr Kalpana Govindaraasan, a PhD scientist and UK mum. Below are the dates Tesco has published, the steps to reserve your order, and the checks that stop a convenient delivery becoming an expensive shop.
Tesco Christmas delivery slots: the key dates
| Who or what | Published date |
|---|---|
| Anytime Delivery Saver: delivery slots; eligible Click+Collect Delivery Saver: collection slots | 6am, Tuesday 3 November 2026 |
| All customers | 6am, Thursday 5 November 2026 |
| Festive Food to Order checkout deadline | 11.45pm, Monday 14 December 2026 |
| Festive Food to Order fulfilment | 20–24 December, with location-specific restrictions |

1. Check your plan first
Sign in before booking day and check the name of your current plan. Tesco lists early access for Anytime Delivery Saver customers and collection access for Click+Collect Delivery Saver customers. Do not assume every plan has the same Christmas benefit.
If you have an Off-Peak plan, check the current terms before expecting priority. If you are considering joining, confirm the qualifying purchase deadline directly with Tesco. Being able to buy a plan and being eligible for Christmas priority are different things.
A Clubcard is also different from a Delivery Saver subscription. My supermarket loyalty apps guide explains why it helps to separate member prices, points and paid delivery services.
2. Choose a realistic delivery day
Think about when someone will be at home, how much fridge space you have and when you will cook. A Christmas Eve delivery might feel convenient, but an earlier suitable slot can leave more time to deal with a missing ingredient.
Check the product freshness information rather than assuming everything will last until Christmas Day. Tesco’s Food to Order page explains that product listings carry freshness guidance. Build your menu around that information and the storage instructions on arrival.
If someone else is receiving the shop, share the order details and your substitution preferences. You want the person at the door to know which alternatives would be useful and which would go to waste.
3. Prepare before the queue
Have your sign-in details, address and preferred dates ready. Tesco says a waiting room will operate when Christmas bookings open. Joining it is a step towards choosing a slot, not confirmation that you have one.
Keep a short list of alternative times. A flexible delivery day or a collection appointment may be more practical than repeatedly searching for one particular hour.
You can compare other retailers in the supermarket Christmas delivery slots guide. Choose the shop that fits your needs; there is no need to switch your whole food budget simply because one retailer is receiving attention.
4. Complete checkout to reserve
Tesco’s Festive Food to Order instructions say to complete checkout within ten minutes of booking a slot. They describe checking out with one item to secure it, then adding to the order later. Follow the instructions shown in your own booking session, including any basket charges.
Do not stop when you have clicked a time or added an item. Look for an order confirmation and check that the delivery or collection details are correct.
Write down the order number and amendment deadline. If the page gives an error, check your account before trying again so you understand whether an order already exists. The confirmation is more useful than a screenshot of an unfinished basket.
5. Keep two amendment deadlines

Tesco’s special Food to Order range and ordinary groceries have different cut-offs. Food to Order must be checked out by 11.45pm on 14 December. The Christmas page gives 11.45pm the day before fulfilment for other changes; your order confirmation should be your final reference.
Whenever you change the order, finish checkout again to save the changes. An edited trolley is not the same as a saved order.
Make a short list headed “Food to Order” and another headed “ordinary groceries”. Put the deadline beside each. This is especially helpful when different people in a household add items over several weeks.
6. Compare the whole bill
Check your slot charge, minimum basket rules and any subscription commitment. The price of a pass is a cost even when individual deliveries are described as included. A low delivery fee cannot compensate for a basket full of extras you did not need.
Tesco’s minimum order help page describes a separate small-basket charge. Check the amount displayed at checkout rather than treating a delivery promotion as a promise that every possible fee disappears.
Use the family food shop guide and my grocery bill checklist to plan the food itself. Comparing unit prices and checking your cupboards are useful even when you already have the slot you wanted.
7. Make a fallback plan
If your preferred slot is unavailable, look at other days, collection appointments and other supermarkets. Availability changes, but a cancellation is never guaranteed. Keep a workable alternative rather than leaving the entire Christmas meal dependent on one appearing.
For items you can safely buy earlier, consider spreading the shopping across your normal trips. Follow storage instructions and check freezer space before ordering more.
Keep the food plan separate from gifts. Toy sale dates, gifts by age and Secret Santa ideas belong in their own spending pots. The Christmas budget hub brings the plans together.
For a wider spending plan, explore my free UK money calculators, the grocery savings calculator and my guide to budgeting your take-home pay. If bills already leave little room, start with a money makeover before committing to extra Christmas spending.
What I’d do first

Check my exact plan, put the appropriate November booking date in my diary, then choose a main delivery day and a backup. I would check the basket total and save the confirmation before thinking about extras.
- Check your eligible plan.
- Book on the correct date.
- Save both order deadlines.
Frequently asked questions
When can I book my Christmas delivery slot with Tesco?
Tesco publishes 6am on 3 November 2026 for qualifying Anytime Delivery Saver customers, with eligible Click+Collect plan holders able to book collections. General bookings open at 6am on 5 November. Check your account and plan eligibility before relying on early access.
What time of day do Tesco Christmas delivery slots become available?
The published 2026 opening time is 6am on the relevant booking date. Tesco says there will be a waiting room. Joining the queue does not reserve an appointment; complete the booking and checkout process and look for confirmation. Keep the relevant terms with your confirmation so you can check the conditions attached to your own order.
Are Tesco deliveries free for over 65s?
Check the delivery charge shown for your Tesco account rather than assuming an age-based free-delivery entitlement. Do not budget on that assumption. Look at the charges and any eligible benefits in your own account, or ask Tesco customer services about your circumstances.
Why can’t I book a Tesco delivery slot?
Christmas bookings may not yet be open for your account, your plan may not qualify for priority, or the requested slots may be full. Check the opening date, postcode, fulfilment type and plan terms. If the site gives a technical error, use Tesco’s official help pages.
Can I change my Tesco Christmas order after booking?
Yes, subject to the appropriate deadline. Tesco’s Food to Order deadline is 11.45pm on 14 December 2026; regular groceries have a later cut-off. Check your confirmation and complete checkout after editing so the changes are saved. Keep the relevant terms with your confirmation so you can check the conditions attached to your own order.
Tesco Christmas delivery slots: summary
- Check your eligible plan.
- Book on the correct date.
- Save both order deadlines.
Check your eligibility, book on the correct date, finish checkout and keep both amendment deadlines. The best slot is one that works with your household, storage space and food budget. Would an earlier delivery or collection make your Christmas week easier?
