TopCashback vs Quidco: Which Is Better?

TopCashback vs Quidco compared for UK shoppers: membership costs, retailer coverage, payouts, tracking, gift cards and which cashback site to use.

Last checked: 5 October 2026.

Disclosure: Some links may be affiliate links. Cashback rates and promotions change frequently, so compare the live offer before buying.

Short answer: I would not permanently choose one and ignore the other. TopCashback and Quidco are both established UK cashback services, and the best-paying option can change by retailer and by day. Keep both available, compare the total deal before a significant purchase and use whichever has the better eligible offer for what you are buying.

Membership costs

TopCashback

TopCashback’s Classic membership is free. Its current terms say Plus membership deducts up to £5 from cashback earnings for each qualifying 12-month period. If you earn less than £5 in that qualifying year, the deduction is limited to the lesser amount; its terms also say it does not deduct if you do not use the site.

Quidco

Quidco Basic is free. Quidco’s current Premium page says Premium costs £1 in a month where you shop and earn cashback. The £1 comes from cashback earnings rather than being taken directly from your bank account. Its current Premium offer also advertises boosted rates on selected retailers and gift-card withdrawal benefits.

Which has more retailers?

TopCashback currently promotes more than 5,500 brands, while Quidco says shoppers can earn at more than 5,000 retailers. Raw retailer count is useful, but it should not decide the purchase on its own. What matters is whether the exact retailer and exact product you need are eligible today.

Which pays the highest cashback?

There is no reliable permanent winner. Cashback rates are dynamic and may differ for new customers, existing customers, product categories or promotional periods. Compare both services immediately before buying.

Do not compare percentages blindly. One provider may quote a higher percentage but exclude the product you need; another may offer a fixed amount for a qualifying broadband or insurance purchase. The retailer terms decide what counts.

Tracking and reliability

Both traditional cashback sites rely heavily on referral tracking. That means the practical tracking habits are similar: read the terms, avoid switching between referral links at checkout, be cautious with unapproved voucher codes, keep cookies available where required and retain your order confirmation.

Neither site should be treated as an instant discount unless the offer specifically says so. Cashback may be pending while the retailer checks cancellations, returns and eligibility.

What if cashback does not track?

Both providers have processes for missing cashback. Keep your order number, transaction date, spend and evidence of the offer. Submit a claim promptly within the provider’s current claim window. A claim is not a guarantee of payment because the retailer still has to confirm eligibility.

Payouts and gift cards

Both services support mainstream cash-out methods and reward/gift-card options. Before choosing a gift-card payout simply because it offers a boost, ask whether you would genuinely spend at that retailer. Cash is more flexible.

TopCashback’s separate TopGiftCards service currently advertises up to 18% fast-track cashback across its digital gift-card range. Quidco currently advertises digital gift cards from more than 150 retailers and up to 18% across its range. Those are platform-wide maximums, not universal rates.

Insurance, broadband and other big purchases

This is where I am most likely to compare both sites. A fixed cashback amount can materially change the effective cost of an insurance policy or broadband contract, but only after you have compared the actual product. With insurance, suitable cover and excess matter more than the cashback. With broadband, compare the full contract cost, setup fees and scheduled price changes.

When TopCashback may suit you

  • The retailer or product you need has the better eligible live offer there.
  • You value its broad retailer coverage.
  • TopGiftCards has a useful gift card for spending you already planned.
  • You are comfortable with its Classic/Plus structure.

When Quidco may suit you

  • It has the better live rate or an exclusive eligible offer.
  • You want to use its card-linked in-store cashback where available.
  • Its digital gift-card range fits your normal spending.
  • The current Premium structure makes sense for how often you use it.

My practical verdict

Use both as comparison tools rather than choosing a permanent winner. I have earned around £800 from cashback over the years, and the habit I value most is not loyalty to a particular platform; it is remembering to check cashback before a planned purchase without letting the reward influence what I buy.

FAQs

Is TopCashback free?

Yes. Classic membership is free. Plus is the optional enhanced membership with the current earnings deduction described above.

Is Quidco free?

Yes. Quidco has a free Basic option. Its Premium option currently retains £1 from cashback in an active shopping month.

Can I use both?

Yes, but use one referral route for a particular tracked transaction. Clicking between both immediately before checkout can interfere with attribution.

Which one is best?

Whichever offers the best eligible total deal for your actual purchase that day. Check the live terms rather than relying on an old comparison table.
