Kids Birthday Freebies & Discounts UK 2026: Toy Shop Rewards & Hidden Rules

Verified UK kids' birthday freebies, toy-shop rewards and birthday restaurant offers for 2026, including Build-A-Bear, The Entertainer, Frankie & Benny's and more.

Updated: 1 October 2026. A child’s birthday can get expensive quickly, so I checked the current UK birthday schemes to separate the genuinely useful rewards from outdated lists. For more ways to save around birthdays, start with my UK birthday freebies guide. Planning a family meal or activity too? See the restaurant birthday rewards guide and entertainment birthday rewards guide. If you are looking for an ordinary family meal rather than a birthday reward, see my Kids Eat Free & Kids Eat for £1 UK guide.

Build-A-Bear: Count Your Candles

This is not a free bear, but it can be a strong birthday saving for younger children. Build-A-Bear’s current UK Count Your Candles offer lets the birthday child pay the age they are turning for the Birthday Treat Bear, with a £1 minimum. It is for Bonus Club members, works in participating UK Workshops during the child’s birthday month, and the child must be present. No proof of age is required. The offer applies to the Birthday Treat Bear rather than any bear, and outfits and accessories cost extra.

Check Build-A-Bear’s current birthday terms before travelling, particularly for stock and participating-location exclusions.

The Entertainer Rewards: birthday discount

The Entertainer’s current Rewards terms give members a birthday choice depending on where they shop: 20% off in a UK The Entertainer store or 10% off online. You need to subscribe to The Entertainer Rewards and register the birthday month of the child you buy for. The company says the birthday code is sent no later than one week before the applicable birthday month.

Smiggle: £5 birthday voucher

Smiggle’s UK birthday treat is currently a £5 voucher with a £20 minimum spend. You need to provide a birthday month when joining Smigglemail/VIP. The voucher can be used once in-store or online, is valid until the end of the birthday month, and excludes concession stores, gift cards, sale merchandise and delivery fees. Smiggle advises signing up before the birthday month so the email can arrive.

Check Smiggle’s current birthday terms.

Disney Store: birthday discount code

Disney Store UK currently publishes birthday-code terms for codes received from July to October 2026. The current offer is 20% off selected items when the unique code is entered at checkout. It is not a blanket 20% discount on everything, cannot be combined with another promotion or promotional code, and the eligible products are defined by Disney’s promotion rules.

Where can my child eat free on their birthday in the UK?

If your child’s birthday is today and you’re hoping to take them out for a completely free birthday meal, the choice is surprisingly small. I checked the major UK chains rather than assuming that a general kids-eat-free deal is a birthday freebie. Here are the birthday-specific restaurant rewards I could verify.

RestaurantBirthday offerIs it free?Important catch
Frankie & Benny’sFree birthday mainYes, but another main must be boughtFriends of Frankie’s; emailed 14 days before birthday; cheapest eligible main free when 2+ eligible mains ordered; exclusions
TGI FridaysFree birthday dessertDessert free with a mainRewards app; sign up more than 7 days beforehand; UK excluding Northern Ireland
PizzaExpressBirthday treatBronze currently gets a free dessertClub required; £15 minimum spend; tier-dependent rewards
Bella Italia£15 off birthday mealNo£30 minimum restaurant spend; code valid 21 days from email
Harvester kids’ partyBirthday child goes freeYes, within paid party£9.99 per other child; minimum 5 guests; not a walk-in free meal

Frankie & Benny’s: free birthday main

Friends of Frankie’s members currently receive a birthday free-main reward. The important catch is that at least two eligible mains from the Brunch or Core menus must be ordered and the cheapest main is removed from the bill. The reward is emailed 14 days before the birthday and lasts 30 days. Airport restaurants, London Covent Garden and Paddington are among the exclusions, with event-day restrictions at some locations. Check Frankie & Benny’s current birthday terms.

TGI Fridays: free birthday dessert

TGI Fridays currently gives Rewards app users a free dessert for their birthday when they order a main meal. You must sign up more than seven days before the birthday; the reward is gifted seven days before it. Check TGI Fridays’ current birthday terms.

PizzaExpress: birthday treat with a minimum spend

PizzaExpress Club advertises a birthday treat, but it isn’t simply a free children’s birthday meal. At Bronze level, the current birthday reward is one free dessert with a £15 minimum spend, valid for six weeks from the first day of the member’s birthday month. Check PizzaExpress Club birthday terms.

Bella Italia: £15 off rather than a free meal

Bella Italia’s current birthday code gives the person celebrating £15 off the restaurant bill when at least £30 is spent. The code expires 21 days from the email and exclusions apply. Check Bella Italia’s current birthday terms.

Harvester: birthday child free with a kids’ party

Harvester currently advertises children’s parties at £9.99 per child where the birthday child goes free. This is a party-package saving rather than a walk-in birthday freebie: there is a minimum of five guests and local arrangements apply. Check Harvester’s kids’ party details.

What about McDonald’s, KFC and Pizza Hut?

These are exactly the chains many parents would think of first, so I checked them specifically. I could not verify a current nationwide UK offer where a child gets a free meal simply because it is their birthday at McDonald’s, KFC or Pizza Hut. McDonald’s has app promotions, but the current birthday-related app terms I found are for adult account holders rather than a child’s free birthday meal. KFC’s Rewards Arcade can award free menu items after qualifying purchases, but it is not a birthday-child reward. Pizza Hut confirms that Kids Eat Free promotions run at selected times during the year in participating dine-in restaurants rather than as a standing birthday entitlement.

MoneySavvyUK tip: don’t turn up expecting a birthday child to eat free at one of these chains unless you already have a specific live voucher or promotion in your account.

Birthday activities worth checking too

The birthday saving doesn’t have to be food. Puttshack Perks currently advertises a free birthday game, Tenpin sends eligible members a 2-for-1 birthday bowling voucher, and ODEON myLIMITLESS members receive a free Large Combo as a birthday treat. I’ve covered more activity offers in my UK entertainment and cinema birthday freebies guide.

What I left out — deliberately

You may see older birthday-freebie lists claiming a free LEGO birthday gift or other toy-shop freebies. I have not included those as guaranteed offers because I could not verify a current UK birthday-specific entitlement from the brand’s official terms. LEGO Insiders, for example, is an adult (18+) loyalty programme and its current UK pages describe points and rewards, but I could not verify the child birthday freebie claimed by some lists. I’d rather give you a shorter list you can actually use than pad this guide with expired offers.

A simple birthday-saving checklist for parents

  • Join schemes before the birthday month rather than waiting until the birthday itself.
  • Add the correct birthday month where the programme requires it.
  • Keep marketing emails enabled when the birthday reward is delivered by email.
  • Check minimum spends, age limits, location exclusions and expiry dates before making a special trip.
  • Never spend £20 just to use a £5 voucher unless you were already going to buy what you need.

More birthday savings

Kids’ rewards are only one part of the birthday budget. My main UK birthday freebies guide brings the wider collection together, while the restaurant guide can help with birthday meals and the entertainment guide covers activities and experiences.

Offers and terms can change. I checked the brand terms used in this guide on 1 October 2026. Always check the linked terms before spending or travelling.
